Revell Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2/4. Color chart

Scale modelling paints

In this post the color chart for painting the Revell Messerschmitt BF-109 F-2/4 scale model is documented, adding cross references to codes (RAL, RLM) and paintings or other brands (Vallejo) apart from Revell.

This post is part of the series dedicated to this scale model, you can find the complete index of the Revell Messerschmitt BF-109 F-2/4 scale model here.

Color chart table

The color chart used to paint the Revell 1:48 Messerschmitt BF-109 F-2/4 is composed by 20 colours, 4 of them being the mix of two colours, what makes an overall amount of 24 colours.

All the references based on the Revell colours chart, but since there are other brands out there a cross reference chart is useful. By now only Acrylics Vallejo is included in this cross chart. The RLM (Reichsluftfahrtministerium) designation and RAL equivalent are included too in order to allow the conversion to other manufacturer color charts.

For additional information, the Revell colours chart is available here.

For building the F4/Trop version, Africa brown matt (Revell 17) is maybe the most used color. However this color has no equivalent in the Vallejo colours chart. Kent Karlsen has built an excellent diorama based on a 1:32 BF-109 G2/Trop painted with Vallejo Sandy brown (71.034) thinned/lightened with Vallejo sand (71.075) and white. Though the result seems darker than the Revell 1:47 BF-109 F4/Trop shown in the model box (see photo above) it is a good starting point for those decided to use Vallejo acrylics.
